Energy audits are commonly provided to local governments by local
utility companies or private contractors. Fifty -three percent of school districts responding
to an energy survey by the office of the State Auditor of Minnesota had energy audits
performed on one or more facilities. Thirty percent of counties and 17 percent of cities
also had energy audits performed.
Policy /Goal Identify areas to consider improving energy efficiencies.
Details /Action All city buildings, facilities, park shelters, booster and pumping
stations. Identify areas in need of improvement through
participation in energy audits.
Cost/Saving $0 to $5000- some are performed as a service by energy supplier.
Timeline To be completed within the next 2 years.
Responsible
Staff Facility Managers
1.2 ongoing Search for Audit opportunities
Background Because we recognize that new technologies are emerging frequently, we
need to be on the constant lookout for new energy assessment options.
Policy /Goal Stay updated on available options
Details /Action All facility mangers and staff actively seek out and
research energy audit possibilities on an ongoing basis.
Cost/Saving Staff Time and potential unknown funding and savings
Timeline ongoing
Responsible
Staff Facility Mangers and other City Staff
II
