City Council Study Session - 04/18/05
Minutes - Page 14

Councilmember Ihlan spoke in support of the second portion of
the proposed resolution related to city land.

Councilmember Schroeder requested a summary of statutory
review related to this specific item prior to further Council
discussions and consideration.

City Attorney Anderson was so directed to provide an opinion
related to majority vote for land acquisition and disposal, based
on statutory language, at his earliest convenience.

9.

Discuss City Newsletter Name and Masthead Design
Elements
City Manager Beets reviewed the recent choice of Greenhaven
Printing for the redesign and printing of the city newsletter and
presented several mock-ups of a proposed redesign for Council
consideration, with the objective of freshening up the look of the
newsletter and taking advantage of the new printing firm's
graphic designer.

Discussion included colors, name change on the masthead, font
sizes and types and staff recommendations.

Council consensus was in concurrence with staff's
recommendation for the slant version on the masthead, and serif
typeface for easier readability.

10.

Proposal for Community Planning Process for Langton Lake
Park
Councilmember Ihlan requested discussion on a community
planning process for Langton Lake Park modeled after that
recently completed for Ladyslipper Park. Councilmember Ihlan
noted the success of that particular process and the outcome;
proposing the same for Langton Lake Park in relationship to
Parkway construction and redevelopment.

Councilmember Schroeder noted the difference in that
Ladyslipper Park had no Master Plan prior to the process, but
that Langton Lake Park has an existing Master Plan, which
would obviously need updating in relation to Twin Lakes

Discuss City
Newsletter Name
and Masthead
Design Elements

Proposal for
Community
Planning Process
for Langton Lake
Park
