<br />Special Session of the City Council: <br />Saturday, 02/19/05, Cedarholm Golf Course Clubhouse, <br />2323 Hamline Avenue North, Roseville, MN <br />Page 6 of 21 <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan noted that pedestrian safety and path- <br />way construction are high priorities for her. She encouraged <br />the city to monitor a bill in the state legislature that might <br />provide a source of matching funding for pathway construc- <br />tion. She also urged cooperation with neighboring cities so <br />maximum value can be gained from pathways. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough spoke in favor of a crosswalk bridge <br />over Highway 36 since it was difficult and dangerous for pe- <br />destrians to cross now. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka asked about the potential for lining <br />city water and sewer lines rather than digging up city streets <br />agam. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder spoke in favor of pedestrian safety <br />improvements such as seasonal crosswalk devices; and re- <br />quested that the Public Works, Parks & Recreation and Police <br />Departments work cooperatively to identify need for these. <br /> <br />e.) Parks and Recreation Director Lonnie Brokke elaborated <br />on the following 2005-2006 major issues: <br /> <br />A. Issues to work on in 2005 <br />1. Strategic planning efforts for the Roseville Skating <br />Center <br />2. Update Systems Plan <br />3. Internal Staff duty analysis to best fit demands and <br />areas of need and resources <br />4. Park Dedication Nexus and ordinance update - City <br />Attorney, Community Development and P&R Com- <br />mISSIOn <br />6. Rosefest - Celebration of 25 years of Rosefest <br />7. Open Applewood Park and Applewood Overlook <br />8. Ladyslipper Park Master Plan <br />9. Golf - B-2 Path/ continue development of strong <br />leagues <br /> <br />A. Budget Issues to consider for 2006 and beyond <br />1. Harriet Alexander Nature Center - appropri- <br />ate / acceptable subsidy <br />2. Roseville Skating Center - appropriate/ acceptable <br />subsidy <br /> <br />6 <br />
