she could determine if official notice should be posted. Curti asked that committee chairs give her a
minimum of three days notice before their meetings.
Chair Grefenberg encouraged the Outreach Committee to use email lists collected from various
Commission-sponsored forums for outreach to the community. He mentioned that these lists could
be used to alert the community about human rights activities both sponsored by the Commission
and not Commission-sponsored.
Commissioners discussed various ways to use the lists, including sending messages about things
happening in the community. Youth Commissioner Marie Siliciano suggested that the proposed
Facebook page could be a useful tool for this, by including those messages onto the Facebook page
she is working on.
[Commissioner Thelma McKenzie arrived at this time.]
Carolyn Curti distributed an updated Commission roster, reminding commissioners that some
information on the roster was non-public.
Operations Committee
Chair Grefenberg reviewed the Operations Committee report as distributed in the commissioners'
packets. The committee reconsidered whether any commissioner may participate/attend standing
committees, but they did not take any action.
The Operations Committee moved that the Commission establish a Youth Engagement Task Force
to be composed of the youth commissioner and commissioners Grefenberg and Thao. The purpose
of this task force is to identify human rights issues, educational opportunities and programs to serve
youth in the Roseville community. Motion prevailed unanimously.
Youth Commissioner's Report
Commissioner Siliciano said she is working on a communications plan for the Facebook page. It
would be used to post what is happening in the community and would be a good way to reach
youth. Commissioner Brisbois aslced how a Commissioner could post on the Facebook page if he
or she wanted to publicize a Commission event. Carolyn Curti said the commissioner should send
the posting to her or Siliciano, who , would have administrative rights to add
new items to the page.
Several other Commissions asked questions about how the Facebook Page would operate, including
whether the public could add comments on the Wall page. Siliciano said that current plans were not
to allow this, but that the Commission could post its flyers and events; and thus reach young people.
