<br />Organizational City Council Minutes - 1/5/04 <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />meeting agenda for Monday, January 26, 2004; <br />directing staff and City Attorney Anderson to review <br />the proposal and provide additional information to <br />Councilmembers for further discussion at that time. <br /> <br />Marilyn Sanft, 2500 Fernwood Street <br />Ms. Sanft cautioned the Council on the use of different <br />areas of the Fairview Community Center, given the <br />need for the elderly and handicapped to use exterior <br />access points into the building that are more <br />cumbersome in the winter. <br /> <br />Joe Machyowsky, 2690 Oxford Street N <br />Mr. Machyowsky encouraged Councilmembers to do <br />what was right for the community. <br /> <br />City Attorney Anderson further clarified the <br />scheduling requirements, as per state statute for <br />candidates for municipal office and filing periods. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing recommended pursuing the April 20, <br />2004 date for the Special Election, given the <br />availability of polling places; potential changes in <br />legislation related to instant runoff balloting; and other <br />considerations; opining his preference for erring on the <br />side of caution. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder concurred, given the City <br />Attorney's clarification of the filing period for <br />candidates. <br /> <br />Maschka moved, Schroeder seconded, adoption of <br />Resolution No. 10180 entitled, "Resolution Setting <br />Date for Municipal Special Election;" establishing <br />April 20, 2004 for a Special Election. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Schroeder, Maschka, Kough and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />B.
