Regular City Council Meeting - 03/29/04
Minutes - Page 13

Mayor Klausing challenged involvement by
representatives of the Boy Scouts in the audience at
tonight's meeting.
Roll Call
Ayes: Ihlan, Kough, Maschka, Schroeder and Klausing.
Nays: None.

5.

Update on the Ad-Hoc Litter Committee Plans
Communications Specialist Carolyn Curti and Ad Hoc Litter
Control Committee Coordinator Patty Hoag reviewed the
activities of the 11 volunteers serving on the Committee and their
promotion of and plans for beautification and clean up of the
community during the month of April.

Ms. Hoag noted that involvement was being encouraged from
businesses, churches, Roseville area schools and colleges,
service organizations, employees, and residents in the clean up
efforts. Ms. Hoag identified specific dates that would focus on
specific areas of clean up; reviewed several projects; and
reviewed how residents and businesses could become involved.
Ms. Hoag noted that Ramsey County and MnDOT had agreed to
provide as many trash bags as the City needs for the effort; and
the committee had purchased 50 reflective vests and 20 litter
grabbers for use by volunteers.

Ms. Hoag outlined the focus dates; the process for volunteers to
come to City Hall for their location assignment, instructions,
equipment and a safety review; then returning to City Hall for
refreshments and returning supplies. Ms. Hoag noted the bags
would be left along the roadside for pick up by City, County or
State crews; and further noted that several financial contributions
from business and/or civic organizations were pending and
would be brought forward for Council acceptance upon receipt.

Ms. Curti provided a sign up sheet for City Councilmembers,
along with a designated trash bag for each.

Mayor Klausing sought clarification on the age of younger
volunteers; with staff responding that only those 12 years of age
and older would be allowed for roadway right-of-way pick up;

Update on the
Ad-Hoc Litter
Committee Plans
