Ms. Mastel provided one example of a trailer with two vehicles, and one parked over the sidewalk, causing children to skate or walk in the street, thus creating potential accidents. Mayor Klausing sought Council consensus as to whether the City Council should be mandating installation of speed humps, and whether government action should be the first course of action; and asked if Ms. Mastel and/or residents had brought this to the attention of the park owner. Ms. Mastel advised that she hadn't personally talked to the owners or managers, but that she had been approached by residents at the park asking her to voice their concerns to the City Council. Ms. Mastel noted that apparently some residents had offered to share in a portion of the cost for installation of speed humps. Ms. Mastel asked for Council assistance in finding a solution. Mayor Klausing noted that no one disputed the real safety concerns evidenced, but questioned whether speed humps accomplished the goal of the residents. Councilmember Maschka opined that it made sense to explore further; opining that City staff needed to converse with the mobile home park owners first, rather than Council consideration of an immediate ordinance change. Councilmember Kough was supportive of getting the parties together to find a solution. It was Council consensus that staff provide additional information to the City Council related to tonight's discussion, and return with that information at a later meeting.
