<br />City Council Regnlar Meeting -10/24/05 <br />Minutes - Page 13 <br /> <br />and to provide a contact person at City Hall to define issues <br />in the neighborhood. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka confirmed City Manager Beets' <br />interpretation of Council directive and the authority of the <br />Public Works and Police Departments by code, without <br />Council action. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan requested additional information <br />from staff as to the scheduled meeting date with <br />Northwestern College representatives; and requested a staff <br />update at an upcoming Worksession to further discuss the <br />situation and potential remedies. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough volunteered to meet with Mr. <br />Schwartz and Ms. Burlingame. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Consider Membership in the Twin Cities North Chamber of <br />Commerce <br />Councilmember Kough had invited representatives of the Twin <br />Cities North Chamber of Commerce to attend tonight's meeting <br />as a courtesy to consider the City's membership in this <br />organization. <br /> <br />Councilmembers had previously expressed concern and <br />requested clarification as to whether the organization endorsed <br />political candidates; or operated a Political Action Committee <br />(PAC). <br /> <br />Gaylord Johnson, Sales Representative; and Past Board <br />Chair Dan Weninger; Twin Cities North Chamber of <br />Commerce <br />Mr. Johnson and Mr. Weninger assured Councilmembers that <br />their organization did not endorse political candidates. Mr. <br />Weninger noted that the organization occasionally provided <br />interviews or debates, or Question and Answer forums of <br />political candidates for informational purposes of their <br />membership. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder requested a list of member cities in <br />the organization. <br /> <br />Twin Cities North <br />Chamber of <br />Commerce <br />
