<br />City Council Regular Meeting -10/24/05 <br />Minutes - Page 14 <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson noted that the Cities of Fridley, Columbia Heights, <br />Hilltop, New Brighton, Arden Hills, Blaine, Shoreview, and <br />Spring Lake Park were current members; and that his territory, as <br />a Sales Associate for the Chamber, encompassed the area of <br />Brooklyn Center to Little Canada, along with Coon Rapids and <br />Blaine. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing asked what advantage to the citizens of <br />Roseville, membership in the organization would provide. <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson read the organization' mission statement; and Mr. <br />Weninger noted the Chamber's "pro" business advantages, <br />business networking opportunities, and involvement with the <br />Roseville Visitor's Association (RV A), which group was a <br />member, would be beneficial to all parties. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough noted that the membership of $500 <br />annually was advantageous and provided the City with a chance <br />to attend the 1-35W Corridor Coalition meetings as a Chamber <br />member. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan requested a sample of Roseville businesses <br />having membership in the organization. <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson noted that the largest member entity was the <br />Rosedale Shopping Center; and the smallest representative <br />business was the Roseville Auto Body Shop. <br /> <br />Kough moved, Schroeder seconded, membership in the Twin <br />Cities North Chamber of Commerce at a membership fee not to <br />exceed $500.00 for a one-year membership. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing opined that, while he was pro-business, the City <br />was currently under extremely tight budget constraints, and had <br />eliminated membership in a number of city-affiliated <br />organizations that may prove more advantageous to the City; <br />further opining that membership would be more beneficial to <br />businesses, rather than the City. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder spoke III support of the motion; <br />
