Community Town Hall Meeting - 04/26/04
Page 14

Lt. Mathwig responded about the process and officer
discretion in whether a formal written report was filed or
whether the dispatch report would suffice. Lt. Mathwig
encouraged residents to seek additional information from
the department on an individual basis to address and review
specific concerns.

Mayor Klausing reviewed briefly the structure of the City
and its basic operations and functions; noting that
Councilors served on a part-time Council representation
basis; and depended on communication with staff to
implement Council policy for practical day-to-day
operations of the City.

B. Unidentified Speaker
Information was sought related to other drainage
improvements and the process to pursue such
improvements that were similar to that recently completed
at the Arona Pond as part of the Applewood Pointe
development project.

Mayor Klausing requested that the City's staff Engineer
Debra Bloom address this question.

Ms. Bloom reviewed various water management and
surface water issues, their environmental impact other
considerations. Ms. Bloom identified the three different
watershed districts located within the City confines, noting
that additional information was available at the department
display table, and they could address specific concerns at
that time as well.

At the request of another unidentified speaker, Ms. Bloom
defined water quality versus water quantity (storm water)
issues; and ways to identify neighborhood drainage issues
and various venues that could be pursued.

Mayor Klausing encouraged residents to identify and
discuss drainage issues with staff for possible remedy.
