Mr. Saxerud further opined <br />the need to retain appropriate parks and open space; privacy; <br />environmental safeguards; and postpone all new development <br />projects that diminish wetlands, woodlands, and/or undisturbed <br />areas. Mr. Saxerud concluded by stating, "we don't want it;" <br />opining that the proposed development was not suitable and <br />didn't maintain the ambience of the existing area; and urged the <br />City Council to prohibit intrusion and ensure compatible land use <br />to preserve neighborhoods. <br /> <br />Pam Anderson 1023 Parker <br />Ms. Anderson thanked Councilmember Ihlan for her support and <br />her research related to this project; and questioned when the <br />Council majority would listen to the neighborhood majority, <br />rather than to the developer. Ms. Anderson spoke in opposition <br />to the project; it's intrusion into the neighborhood; and "ripping <br />up of beautiful lots." <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing noted that the City Council was limited in what <br />it could dictate to property owners on their private property; and <br />that sometimes what the majority wanted wasn't subject to <br />popular vote, but to people's rights. <br /> <br />Debra Pyle, 951 Shryer Avenue <br />Ms. Pyle noted that her main cone em was the flooding issue; and <br />expressed her appreciation in hearing that the runoff from the <br />area couldn't increase. Ms. Pyle provided a historical <br />perspective of the runoff on the east and south side over the <br />years; the huge pond in the back that develops following snow <br />melts and significant rainfall events; and the slow infiltration of <br />that area. <br /> <br />Ms. Pyle encouraged the City Council to consider future review <br />of ordinances; and volunteered to be involved in those <br />discussions. Ms. Pyle acknowledged the unique areas within the <br />community; and opined that such a review would provide a good <br />opportunity to maintain that uniqueness. <br /> <br />Racheal Valentine, 960 Parker <br />Ms. Valentine noted the conversation regarding flooding, but <br />
