Mr. Beets noted <br />that, if oppOliunities came up in the future, staff should be <br />allowed to seek participation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough advised that staff had an <br />opportunity to come before the City Council with specific <br />requests. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Kough and Schroeder. <br />Nays: Maschka; Ihlan and Klausing. <br />Motion failed. <br /> <br />6) Kough moved, Schroeder seconded, directing the <br />Public Works Department to reduce the number of <br />commercial lights ($3,000). <br /> <br />Public Works Director Duane Schwartz advised <br />Councilmembers that staff would meet with the Public <br />Works, Environment and Transportation Commission <br />(PWET) and return to the City Council with their <br />recommendations for which lights should be eliminated; <br />and with a draft policy to support that decision; as well as <br />reconsideration of a street light utility. Mr. Schwartz noted <br />that a number of lights had been eliminated as part of the <br />County Road B-2 pathway construction proj ect. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka questioned the actual savings <br />from eliminating lights when balanced with additional <br />public safety concerns. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan suggested exploring shifting costs; <br />and opined her lack of support for removing it from the <br />budget at this time. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Kough and Schroeder. <br />Nays: Maschka; Ihlan and Klausing. <br />Motion failed. <br /> <br />7) Kough moved, Schroeder seconded, deleting the <br />
