B-2 has no continuous sidewalks or trail adjacent to it in the resi-
dential area east of Lexington.

12. 5' to 6' concrete sidewalks immediately behind new concrete
curbs and gutters would create the maximum distance between
residents' front doors and the sidewalk. Such sidewalks would be
farther away from residents' front doors on B-2 than on many other
streets in the City. In all instances, a B-2 sidewalk would be located
on public property.

13. A concrete sidewalk, curb, and gutter on both sides would cure
many drainage issues along B-2 that understandably annoy resi-
dents. We will have a much better street and a much better drain-
age system for storm water and snowmelt with concrete curbs, gut-
ters, and sidewalks on both sides of a reconstructed street.

14. For all the reasons set forth above, continuous sidewalks or other
types of pathways are used for considerable distances along other
arterial and collector streets in residential parts of Roseville, such
as: Western Avenue the width of the City north to south, Lydia
from Snelling to Fairview, Hamline from C to Larpenteur, County
C and County B east to west, Roselawn from Lexington to Victo-
ria, Dale Street, West Owasso, Josephine, Larpenteur, Lexington
north to south. (Note: last Fall the City of Shoreview installed a
concrete sidewalk on a residential segment along the north side of
County D from Victoria to Lexington.) Sidewalks and other types
of pathways along arterial and collector streets in residential areas
are not a new or experimental type of improvement; they are suc-
cessful investments in Roseville and thousands of other communi-
ties.

5
