City Council Study Session - 06/21/04
Minutes - Page 6

Hall scheduled for Saturday, September 18, 2004.

Councilmember Schroeder opined that they should be listed
as participants, not just invitees.

Councilmember Schroeder further noted that, in January of
2004 when former Mayor John Kysylyczyn left office, a
Rose Ceremony was planned, but Mr. Kysylyczyn had
requested that it be added to this ceremony.
Councilmember Schroeder concurred with that request,
recommending that it be added to the ceremony.
Councilmember Schroeder volunteered to serve as Master
of Ceremony for that portion of the agenda.

Schroeder moved, Kough seconded, directing staff to
schedule a separate Rose Ceremony honoring former
Mayor John Kysylyczyn as a separate item and part of the
Open House, Ribbon Cutting and Plaque Dedication
agenda, following the sealing of the time capsules.

Mayor Klausing opined his willingness to recognize former
Mayor Kysylyczyn with a Rose Ceremony; he questioned
the appropriateness of including that recognition with the
dedication of the new buildings.

Councilmember Kough noted that former Mayor
Kysylyczyn had been a strong proponent for the building.

Councilmember Schroeder concurred wholeheartedly with
Councilmember Kough's observation.

Mayor Klausing opined that it would appear to continue the
City's tradition of recognizing former Mayors at a City
Council meeting, again opining his disagreement with
including it with the dedication ceremonies; noting he
would be voting against the motion.

Councilmember Schroeder reiterated his support of former
Mayor Kysylyczyn's request that the Rose Ceremony be
included as part of the dedication festivities; and
questioned the need for any opposition.
