She reviewed citizen rights under the open meetings <br />97 law. He noted that he had discussed his recommendation <br />for a new Commission meeting schedule with ever_y commissioner including the Youth <br />Commissioners. He reco�nized that no schedule would fit every commissioner every meeting� <br />Grefenberg He added that he was also recommending the Commission meet every month during <br />2012 because the Commission's work load reauired it. <br />Chair Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Singleton seconded motion that the HRC meet� the <br />third Wednesday of � everv month durin 2g 012 at 6:30 p.m. . Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />Outreach Committee <br />Commissioner Groff said the committee met earlier in the week with commissioners from <br />114 Maplewood and Falcon Heights to discuss how neighboring commissions could work together. <br />115 They also spent time discussin� how each of their respective commissions was respondin t� <br />116 constitutional amendment bannin��ay marriage. <br />117 <br />118 They spent � part of the meeting discussing cosponsoring Shoreview's March 19 and April <br />119 23 community forums, to address issues of concern for senior citizens. <br />120 <br />121 Commissioner Groff moved and Commissioner Kaying Thao seconded motion to cosponsor the two <br />122 series of programs for the elderly with the Shoreview Human Rights Commission and allocate $50 <br />123 and assist with publicizing the events. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />124 <br />125 The committee discussed whether commissions would want to adopt a shared statement opposing <br />126 the marriage amendment. Commissioners Brisbois and Groff expressed support for the language <br />127 from the League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions. Chair Grefenberg said <br />128 there }s was a possibility of future �a�s pro�rammin� on this topic. <br />129 <br />13� <br />132 <br />133 <br />134 <br />135 <br />136 <br />137 <br />138 <br />Operations Committee <br />The Committee a�pointed Commissioner poneen and Commissioner Thao �} to plan the HRC <br />workshop retreat. The retreat's purpose is to update the strategic planning and provide an <br />orientation for new commissioners. <br />Commissioners agreed to meet on April 14 at the Nature Center at a time to be determined. <br />Commissioner poneen will work with staff to set a budget for food and refreshments. <br />
