<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 07/26/04 <br />Minutes - Page 34 <br /> <br />actually received more information from the City of Roseville <br />that what they provided to the City. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder requested that staff clarify the actual <br />cost savings and impacts from a true "apples to apples" <br />comparIson. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough recommended reduction in the funding <br />provided to Northwest Youth and Family Services (NYFS). <br /> <br />City Manager Beets noted that staff had included an increase in <br />the 2005 proposed budget of 1.7%, less than what was requested <br />by NYFS, but still maintaining a close level of support with that <br />provided in 2004. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder questioned the $4,050 line item for <br />conference attendance under City Council expenses to the <br />National League of Cities (NLC) Conference. <br /> <br />City Manager Beets noted that membership in the NLC had been <br />eliminated as per previous Council direction, but the remaining <br />funds had been continued to accommodate attendance by a <br />Councilmember at the annual conference if so preferred. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder expressed concern about that line <br />item and requested further discussion at a later date; opining that <br />when considering employee layoffs, the Council should not <br />consider doing any travel. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing concurred with future discussion of this line <br />item expense. <br /> <br />Ci ty Manager Beets requested, if the Council chose to <br />discontinue membership in the 1-35W Corridor Coalition, that he <br />be provided with that decision soon enough to allow time to <br />discuss that and notify the Corridor's Board, or at least their <br />Executive Director, as a courtesy, to let them and their <br />membership know in a timely manner and in consideration of <br />their budget direction. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing opined that he would not be opposed to <br />
