Mayor Klausing opined that the resulting product would depend on what was put into the process by individual Councilmembers; and further opined that it was a smart use of taxpayer monies as citizens were looking for a Council who could disagree without being disagreeable. Mayor Klausing concurred with the proposals previously identified by Councilmembers Pust and Maschka; and asked that another proposal, that of Don Salverda, be included in the initial contacts by staff. Mayor Klausing suggested that City Manager Beets do the preliminary interviews with those four and return to the City Council with his recommendation. Councilmember Maschka questioned how City Manager Beets intended to pursue the process. Mr. Beets advised that, given the geographies of Mr. Neu being in Colorado, and to level the field, he would anticipate conducting phone interviews with all four candidates. Councilmember Maschka suggested that Councilmember Pust sit in on those interviews; and City Manager Beets concurred with that suggestion. Councilmember Pust concurred with Councilmember Ihlan's comments that each Councilmember was individually elected, but opined that each also brought along their own package of opinions and their way to look at things. Councilmember Pust noted that, in her recent campaigning; it had been made exceptionally clear to her by citizens of Roseville that they were not impressed with the way the Council was working together, and had charged her not to follow suit.
