<br />City Council Study Session -10/18/04 <br />Minutes - Page 4 <br /> <br />this presented challenges to the firefighters' job, there <br />were new tools and equipment to assist them. <br /> <br />Chris Snyder, Firefighter <br />Mr. Snyder spoke in support of firefighters and the need <br />for good technologies to combat new types of fires. <br /> <br />Al Sands, 2612 Aldine <br />Mr. Sands spoke in opposition to the comments made by <br />Mr. Roe regarding tax increments addressed in Mr. <br />Burrell's letter; specifically the creation of Hazardous <br />Sub- Districts. <br /> <br />Mr. Sands reiterated his previous comments regarding the <br />Twin Lakes Redevelopment proposal; impacts to the <br />City's Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Bill Chandler, Firefighter <br />Mr. Chandler responded to Mr. Kysylyczyn's comments <br />related to previous equipment requests by the Brooklyn <br />Park Fire Department. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />2005 Budget Focus Questions <br /> <br />GENERAL DISCUSSION <br />Mayor Klausing briefly reviewed the process to-date for <br />developing and finalizing the 2005 budget. <br /> <br />City Manager Neal Beets had provided focus questions and a <br />decision outline as part of the Council Agenda packet. Mr. Beets <br />noted that the major portion of the questions pertained to the <br />structural deficit in the operating budget; and of those eight <br />questions, three pertained to revenues and five pertained to costs <br />or spending. <br /> <br />Mr. Beets sought Council direction to allow staff to further refine <br />the 2005 budget. Mr. Beets noted that all Department Heads <br />were in attendance at tonight's meeting if Councilmembers <br />needed clarification specifically related to a department or had <br />questions of staff. Mr. Beets suggested that the direction <br />provided tonight would be incorporated into the proposed 2005 <br /> <br />2005 Budget <br />Focus Questions <br />
