<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 11/08/04 <br />Minutes - Page 16 <br /> <br />fundraiser held by Applebee's in Roseville, which raised <br />$1,000 to be used at the discretion of the Fire Department. <br />Chief Gasaway noted that the Department would be using <br />the donation for purchase of Fire Prevention and Safety <br />Education materials for the City's vulnerable population - <br />children and the elderly. <br /> <br />On behalf of the City Council, residents and staff, Mayor <br />Klausing thanked Applebee's for their generosity. <br /> <br />Kough moved, Maschka seconded, authorized acceptance <br />of a donation from Applebee's Restaurant in the amount of <br />$1,000.00 for fire prevention and safety education supplies <br />for the City's vulnerable population. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Schroeder, Kough, Maschka, Ihlan and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />6. Consider Procuring 800 MHz Radios for Public Safety 800 MHz Radios <br />Purposes for Fire & Police <br />Roseville Police Department Sergeant Randy Johnson updated Departments <br />Councilmembers on the anticipated schedule for equipment <br />orders, and changeover use to the 800 MHz communication <br />system in the third or fourth quarter of 2005. Sergeant Johnson <br />noted that in-house training of all agencies and departments was <br />scheduled to begin in July of 2005. Sergeant Johnson advised <br />that the existing communication equipment was not compatible <br />with the new 800 MHz system, thus requiring purchase of all <br />new radios for applicable city departments (i.e. Fire and Police <br />Departments);with encryption capability for tactical purposes. <br /> <br />Sergeant Johnson noted that radio equipment orders must be <br />received by the Ramsey County project manager and forwarded <br />to contract award vendors by the beginning of November 2004; <br />and equipment vendors must receive orders and deliver product <br />by the end of 2004 in order to fulfill the requirements of the <br />federal grant the radio system had been awarded. <br /> <br />Sergeant Johnson reviewed the system and county-wide tax base <br />formula approved to reimburse municipalities for a portion of the <br />
