City Council Regular Meeting - 12/06/04
Minutes - Page 32

Councilmember making a request for interview of the candidate.

Schroeder moved, Kough seconded, amendment as referenced
above.

John Kysylyczyn, 3083 N Victoria Street
Mr. Kysylyczyn thanked the City Council for considering the
points made in his previous notes to them. Mr. Kysylyczyn
spoke against the Public Works and Transportation Commission
handling environmental issues, noting that the Parks and
Recreation Commission, the Planning Commission and the
Public Works Commission already were responsible for various
components of the City's environmental issues and concerns.
Mr. Kysylyczyn opined that there was no public proof that there
were environmental issues not currently being addressed, and
that this appeared to be a campaign issue.

Discussion included the interview process.

Councilmember Schroeder spoke in favor of the amendment.

Councilmember Kough spoke in favor of the amendment.

Councilmember Maschka spoke against the motion, opining that
deference needed to be given to people already serving; and if
they maintained the support of the Commission Chair and
continued to do a good job, their level of competency and
expertise should be recognized accordingly and respected.

Ihlan moved, Klausing seconded, a substitute amendment for line
35, page 3 of the resolution that two Councilmembers could
request an interview.

Mayor Klausing spoke in support of the substitute amendment.

Councilmember Schroeder withdrew his original motion for
amendment of one Councilmember requesting an interview.

ROLL CALL (Amendment for two Councilmembers
requesting an interview)
Ayes: Ihlan, Kough, Schroeder, Maschka and Klausing.
