Regular City Council Minutes - 1/13/03
Page 3

Mr. Lobaida indicated that more work needs to be done in
that area.

Mayor Kysylyczyn also asked about marketing in Canada.

Mr. Lobaida responded that while appearing to be a good
idea, the exchange rates were currently an impediment.

B. City Council Chambers Technology Update
Communications Specialist, Tim Pratt, provided updated
information to and sought further direction from the City
Council regarding the technology update for the City
Council Chambers.

In response to Mayor Kysylyczyn's questions, Mr. Pratt
indicated that $10,000 was not spent from 2002 budgeted
amounts; there was $20,000 designated for 2003; and
$30,000 had been reappropriated in December 2002 for
2003.

Mayor Kysylyczyn asked about how the telestrator system
worked and about ease of use.

Councilmember Klausing asked about Elmo devices and,
specifically, their size, and wondered whether it might be
distracting.

Councilmember Maschka spoke about declining prices for
most of this technology.

Councilmember Kough expressed concern about the
lifespan of this technology.

Mayor Kysylyczyn noted the potential benefits of a timer
system for large public hearings.

Mr. Pratt indicated such a timer system would cost
approximately $900.00.

Councilmember Klausing supported a logo inserter, but had
no strong support for the other items.

City Council
Chambers
Technology
Update
