<br />Regular City Council Minutes - 1/13/03 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Mr. Lobaida indicated that more work needs to be done in <br />that area. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn also asked about marketing in Canada. <br /> <br />Mr. Lobaida responded that while appearing to be a good <br />idea, the exchange rates were currently an impediment. <br /> <br />B. City Council Chambers Technology Update <br />Communications Specialist, Tim Pratt, provided updated <br />information to and sought further direction from the City <br />Council regarding the technology update for the City <br />Council Chambers. <br /> <br />In response to Mayor Kysylyczyn's questions, Mr. Pratt <br />indicated that $10,000 was not spent from 2002 budgeted <br />amounts; there was $20,000 designated for 2003; and <br />$30,000 had been reappropriated in December 2002 for <br />2003. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn asked about how the telestrator system <br />worked and about ease of use. <br /> <br />Councilmember Klausing asked about Elmo devices and, <br />specifically, their size, and wondered whether it might be <br />distracting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka spoke about declining prices for <br />most of this technology. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough expressed concern about the <br />lifespan of this technology. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn noted the potential benefits of a timer <br />system for large public hearings. <br /> <br />Mr. Pratt indicated such a timer system would cost <br />approximately $900.00. <br /> <br />Councilmember Klausing supported a logo inserter, but had <br />no strong support for the other items. <br /> <br />City Council <br />Chambers <br />Technology <br />Update <br />
