<br />Regular City Council Minutes - 3/1 0/03 <br />Page 19 <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn again expressed his opinion that he <br />thought it grossly inappropriate to discuss the tape, <br />without having viewed the tape. <br /> <br />Amy Ihlan, Primary Election Comments <br />Ms. Ihlan spoke to the expressed Task Force views as a <br />random sample of Roseville citizens, not a selective <br />special interest group. Ms. Ihlan opined that the problem <br />of getting rid of the primary risked electing people who <br />do not really represent the plurality of residents, and is it <br />just an academic process and not appropriate when <br />weighed against more pressing state and national issues <br />and priorities. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn sought clarification from Ms. Ihlan if <br />she thought there were issues the Council was not <br />addressing that should be addressed. <br /> <br />Ms. Ihlan responded that residents were apparently under <br />the impression that the City Council were considering <br />elimination of the Primary election, and after that <br />perception was clarified, questioned the urgency of <br />continuing discussion of the issue. Ms. Ihlan concluded <br />by expressing for the record, her opinion that there was <br />no good reason to eliminate the Primary. <br /> <br />Bruce Adomeit, 2731 Mackubin Street <br />Mr. Adomeit spoke to the fundamental conduct in a <br />democratic form of government, and favored the visibility <br />available through the Primary election process. <br /> <br />Dr. Richard VerHagen <br />Mr. VerHagen opined the appropriateness of the airing of <br />the aforementioned video tape during the recess from his <br />experience as a former radio station management. <br /> <br />Dan Roe, 2100 Avon Street N. <br />Mr. Roe opined that, based on comments and impressions <br />heard during the evening, he was supportive of continuing <br />a Primary election in the City, stating that there had been <br />
