<br />Regular City Council Minutes - 3/10/03 <br />Page 21 <br /> <br />stating she had volunteered for the Task Force, and <br />questioned why, if there were opinions out there in favor <br />of eliminating the Primary, they weren't more strongly <br />represented at the Task Force meeting. <br /> <br />Joe Machyowsky, 2690 Oxford Street N. <br />Mr. Machyowsky opined that while he favored keeping <br />the Primary, the caveat was that a Primary limits the <br />democracy process as so few people vote in a Primary, <br />small power groups can manipulate and control a <br />primary. Mr. Machyowsky encouraged more people to <br />vote in the Primary and actively participate in the <br />democratic process. <br /> <br />George Marschall, 670 Lovell Avenue <br />Mr. Marschall stated Councilmember Schroeder's <br />background; Counciln1en1ber Schroeder responded that he <br />was an engIneer. <br /> <br />Mr. Marschall responded that the problem was that there <br />was no science in politics, so how did an engineer get his <br />facts. <br /> <br />Mr. Marschall asked how this originally became an issue <br />and what was driving it. Mr. Marschall referred to his <br />discussion with Councilmember Kough and Mayor <br />Kysylyczyn during Council office hours the previous <br />week, and his interpretation of some of Mayor <br />Kysylyczyn's comments. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn commented on several of Mr. <br />Marschall's interpretations, and disagreed with several of <br />his perceived statements. <br /> <br />Mr. Marschall opined that residents are the City, and <br />opined that the entire issue was driven by the Mayor's <br />personal agenda. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn closed the Public Hearing at 10:20 <br />p.m. <br />Councilmember Klausing expressed his appreciation of <br />
