<br />Regular City Council Minutes - 3/10/03 <br />Page 7 <br /> <br />running for election, as she opined that there was a conflict <br />of interest in my opinion. <br /> <br />George Marschall, 670 Lovell Avenue <br />Mr. Marschall presented extensive historical budget cost <br />data and voter turnout analysis that he had researched, and <br />opined that the benefits of primaries to the voting citizens <br />far out-weighed the cost of conducting Primary elections. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn clarified that Mr. Marschall's analysis <br />had not taken into consideration the candidate's campaign <br />costs and questioned the representative validity of the poll <br />taken by the Task Force. <br /> <br />Diana Lieffring, - 287 Roma Avenue <br />Ms. Lieffring had previously provided written comment <br />regarding her support of continuing a municipal Primary <br />election. Ms. Lieffring stated that cost was not an issue, <br />but it was a citizen's right to be allowed to vote. Ms. <br />Lieffring referenced points raised in recent newspaper <br />coverage, defending that it was about giving up a right to <br />be fairly represented and having the needs of the <br />community met. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn briefly responded to Ms. Lieffring's <br />comments. <br /> <br />Wade Russell, 2994 Old Highway 8 <br />Mr. Russell expressed his indecisiveness regarding the <br />issues, and sought information and the Council's <br />perspective to form his opinion. Mr. Russell asked several <br />questions regarding the current election process in <br />Roseville, with Mayor Kysylyczyn responding to his <br />quenes. <br /> <br />Dr. Richard VerHagen <br />Dr. VerHagen spoke of his disdain in the negative <br />opinions expressed by some residents regarding their <br />impression of Mayor Kysylyczyn and his leadership. Dr. <br />VerHagen encouraged residents and Councilmembers to <br />get on with the business of running the city and suggested <br />
