<br />Regular City Council Minutes - 3/10/03 <br />Page 9 <br /> <br />attract those who desire good local, state and federal <br />government; stating that the dollars are insignificant and <br />those interested in good government will continue to show <br />their support of both a Primary and General election. <br /> <br />When Mayor Kysylyczyn asked if Mr. Brown wasn't <br />concerned about the cost to city, Mr. Brown opined that it <br />was citizen taxpayer monies, no matter its source. <br /> <br />Anthony Reichenberger, 2177 County Road B <br />Mr. Reichenberger spoke to the financial impact on <br />candidates, stating that a candidate would normally order <br />yard signs prior to the Primary, but they would be used for <br />the General election as well, and that was a major financial <br />portion of a campaign. Mr. Reichenberger opined that <br />additional expenses of mailings, printing flyers, and other <br />items would be incorporated into the candidate's budget <br />for the entire campaign. Mr. Reichenberger was using his <br />experience in having run for the City Council, and <br />reviewed the process of a campaign from the candidate's <br />perspective (i.e., cable televised debates and the difficulty <br />of managing too many candidates, knocking on doors, and <br />the candidate's management of his campaign budget as a <br />benchmark for the candidate's fiscal responsibility in the <br />stewardship of city finances). <br /> <br />In conclusion, Mr. Reichenberger commended Mr. <br />Kennedy's for his rationale and previous comments; and <br />concurred that the more candidates that run for the City <br />Council, the more views are represented of the citizenry. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka commended Mr. Kennedy and <br />Mr. Reichenberger for their well-thought-out comments. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn and Mr. Reichenberger briefly <br />continued dialogue regarding candidate costs related to <br />Primary and/or General elections and their related impacts. <br /> <br />Ms. Francis Blaire Egley, 1116 Summer Street <br />Ms. Egley was in attendance in response to Mayor <br />Kysylyczyn's newspaper article, stating that she was not <br />
