<br />Regular City Council Minutes - 3/17/03 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />the Public Safety facility. <br /> <br />City Manager Beets responded that Council would need to <br />make a decision in approximately three (3) weeks; with <br />the item anticipated for the April 7, 2003 regular Council <br />meeting; at which time final proposed drawings would be <br />available for Council action. <br /> <br />It was the Council consensus to direct staff to include the <br />gun range discussion on the March 31, 2003 regular <br />Council meeting agenda; specifically seeking comments <br />from Police Chief Sletner on the advantages and <br />disadvantages of a city-owned firing range; cost <br />recommendations; public use of the proposed facility; and <br />use policy considerations. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder additionally sought Police <br />Chief Sletner's comments on the bench handouts received <br />at this meeting and her recommendation regarding <br />involvement in a joint facility. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Kough recognized Mr. Olsen for public <br />comment regarding this issue. <br /> <br />Arnold Olsen, 2772 Marion Street <br />Mr. Olsen spoke in favor of the City having its own firing <br />range and private citizen use of the facility. <br /> <br />VIII. Reports and Recommendations <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Consider Recommendation from the Public Works and <br />Transportation Commission Regarding the City's Leaf <br />Removal Program <br />Public Works Director Duane Schwartz briefly reviewed <br />the history of the City's Leaf Program, and brought <br />forward recommendations from the Public Works and <br />Transportation Commission. <br /> <br />Mr. Schwartz stated that in January of 2003, the <br />Commission sought public comment at their meeting, with <br /> <br />Reports and <br />Recommendations <br /> <br />Consider <br />Recommendation <br />from the Public <br />Works and <br />Transportation <br />Commission <br />Regarding the <br />City's Leaf <br />Removal Program <br />
