Regular City Council Minutes - 3/31/03
Page 30

Mayor Kysylyczyn alerted Councilmembers to an
upcoming seminar regarding affordable housing scheduled
at the Radisson Riverfront Hotel on April 30, 2003.
Mayor Kysylyczyn directed City Manager Beets to
forward the meeting information to any interested
Councilmembers and the Housing and Redevelopment
Authority (HRA) Board members.

D. Recycling Issue/Waste Management
Mayor Kysylyczyn alerted Councilmembers to
correspondence he had recei ved from the firm Waste
Management regarding the actual number of multi-family
units served under the recently-approved Recycling
Contract. It was originally estimated at 6700 multi-family
units, and in actuality, only 2000 multi-family units are
services, as some are contracting with other companies
and others do not allow entrance to their private property.

Mayor Kysylyczyn, with Council concurrence, directed
City Manager Beets and City Attorney Anderson to
address potential revenue shortfalls under the contract,
intended direction of the City Council, and potential
contract issues, and report back to the City Council.

E. War in Iraq
Councilmember Kough suggested that the City Council
sponsor encouragement for patriotic citizen support of the
troops by flying the American flag and keeping lights
burning.

Councilmember Klausing queried and Councilmember
Kough clarified that Councilmember Kough's intent was
for individual citizens, not city facilities keeping lights
burning (i.e., Oval), given budget constraints.

F. Gary Wood Family
Mayor Kysylyczyn read a letter of appreciation from the
family of Gary Wood (Judith Wood) dated March 9, 2003
for expressed condolences.

G.
