<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 02/13/06 <br />Minutes - Page 9 <br /> <br />servIces and that Economic Development position was <br />needed. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Dennis Welsch clarified <br />the two contracts before the City Council for action. Mr. <br />Welsch noted that the first contract with Ms. King, was an <br />annual contract for provision and updating of data for <br />business retention purposes, such as analyses from Dunn & <br />Bradstreet. Mr. Welsch advised that this work had never <br />been performed internally, and was proposed at a minimal <br />cost anticipated at $2,100. Mr. Welsch advised that he had <br />requested Ms. King to include a provision in the contract <br />for additional consulting services, at a not-to-exceed $2,400 <br />cost, for additional work still pending for work potentially <br />to be directed by the City Council for analyses and data. <br />Mr. Welsch further noted that costs for these consulting <br />services were kept at their low level due to cost-sharing <br />with the Roseville Visitors' Association (RV A). <br /> <br />Regarding the currently vacant Associate position, Mr. <br />Welsch advised that, in accordance with the City Council- <br />adopted 2006 budget, the position had been advertised and <br />interviews were taking place this week for the position. <br />Mr. Welsch noted that this position would handle the day- <br />to-day maintenance of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) <br />projects; update business research work; and work with all <br />department and city-wide statistics that helped to create <br />economic wealth within the community, in addition to data <br />regarding leased office space, industrial information and <br />activities, open space data, and other information requested <br />on a routine basis by the City Council from staff. Mr. <br />Welsch advised that the Associate position as advertised, <br />would serve as a complement to the consulting services <br />provided by Ms. King; and that Ms. King would probably <br />be providing some training to that employee. Mr. Welsch <br />also advised that the consulting contract with Ms. Bennett <br />would allow her to tie up loose ends from her former <br />employ with the City of Roseville, provide assistance with <br />her expertise if the new position ran into difficulties (i.e., <br />TIF; budget issues; projecting tax income from various <br />business properties; and other services), while allowing the <br />
