Regular City Council Minutes - 06/09/03
Page 18

Kough moved without second, to direct staff to
investigate, with realistic costs, to move forward in all
respects considering one (1) full-time fire personnel to
cover each of the three (3) shifts for twenty-four (24) hour
per day coverage; to move forward immediately in full-
time day staffing; and authorizing the Fire Chief to
proceed with purchase of a fully-equipped response
vehicle; and immediate training of four ( 4) Fire
Department personnel as Emergency Medical Technicians.

After further discussion, Councilmember Kough withdrew
his motion, and Councilmember Klausing suggested
rewording the motion.

Goal #2
Klausing moved, Maschka seconded, directing staff to
examine the quality of fire and emergency medical
services for residents and visitors of Roseville and report
back to the city council on an upgrade of that quality.

Roll Call
Ayes: Kough, Schroeder, Klausing, Maschka and
Kysylyczyn.
Nays: None.

Goal #3 (was #2 on proposal)
Klausing moved, Kysylyczyn seconded, directing staff to
examine the way the fire department trains and uses
firefighter's time; and report back to the City Council on
how City funds could be used more effectively to provide
city-wide medical and safety training to employees.

After further discussion regarding keeping this goal
revenue neutral, and Assistant Fire Chief O'Neill
responding that the department had already done a cost
analysis and submitted it as a line item for overall savings,
it was determined that this goal had already been
addressed.

Councilmember Klausing withdrew the motion.
