Finance Director Miller advised that the preliminary documents were in their final process, allowing for further Council direction at tonight's meeting and preference for presentation, in-depth or by functions or areas of interest. Mayor Kysylyczyn recommended discussion of a tentative schedule on July 28, following the initial presentation of the preliminary budget documents. Councilmember Maschka opined that it would be appropriate to have a tentative meeting schedule available; and would like to hear the overall presentation on July 28, 2003. Finance Director Miller summarized Council direction for clarification, that he and City Manager Beets would make the initial presentation on July 28, 2003, and await further Council direction as to their preference for additional department-specific information from Department Heads. Mr. Miller recommended that the August 18, 2003 meeting was anticipated for tentative adoption of the 2004 preliminary budget, as it represented the last scheduled meeting prior to the September 15, 2003 mandated date for adoption prior to submission to Ramsey County. Mayor Kysy1yczyn opined that the August dates looked appropriate, but eliminated the July 30, 2003 proposed Special Council meeting.
