Regular City Council Minutes - 7/28/03
Page 9

concurring, expressed concern in committing the City to a
two-year contract, given the number of Stanton cities not
accounted for in the existing survey.

After further discussion, Mayor Kysylyczyn called the
motion.

Roll Call

Ayes: None.
Nays: Schroeder, Maschka, Kough and Kysylyczyn.
Motion failed.

x.

Ordinances & Resolutions

A. First Reading of an Ordinance Relating to Firearms
Kysylyczyn moved, Schroeder seconded holding First
Reading of an ordinance entitled, "An Ordinance
amending Title Five, Sections 503.02 and 503.07,
Weapons."

City Attorney Scott Anderson responded to Mayor
Kysylyczyn's query as to why the City needed to duplicate
items that were addressed in State Statute. City Attorney
Anderson clarified that the City Council was delegating
their authority to the Police Chief to enter into a contract
with the County Sheriff, at her discretion, to process
permits; and would make the City Ordinance consistent
with State and Federal law, negating the need for future
Code changes.

After further discussion, Kysylyczyn withdrew his motion,
and Schroeder withdrew his second.

Kysylyczyn moved, Schroeder seconded directing staff to
return to a future meeting with a revised ordinance,
striking Sections 503.02 and 503.07B.

Roll Call
Ayes: Schroeder, Maschka, Kough and Kysylyczyn.
Nays: None.

Ordinances &
Resolutions

First Reading of an
Ordinance Relating
to Firearms
(to be revised)
