City Council Study Session - 05/15/06 Minutes - Page 12 Mayor Klausing suggested that staff schedule a quarterly meeting with interested Councilmembers, at the discretion of the City Manager and applicable staff schedules and work loads. It was Council consensus, and City Manager Beets was directed to schedule quarterly meetings between Department Heads and individual Councilmembers depending on staff schedules and work loads; share the schedule with Councilmembers; with Councilmembers advising the City Manager one week in advance if interested in meeting with staff. Councilmember Pust noted, as a sidebar, that while the staff memos had been very useful in putting the information together, she noted that she heard no "we's" and only "you's;" and encouraged City Manager Beets to raise that issue at the next staff meeting, and invite staff to think about their use of inclusive language to continue the team-building efforts between staff and Councilmembers. 3.e Goal 5: Commit to and Plan for a Community Center Finance Director Chris Miller noted that Parks & Recreation Director Lonnie Brokke was currently at the legislature regarding the house bill currently in conference committee seeking funding in the amount of $500,000 operation and maintenance at the Guidant John Rose OVAL. Mr. Miller made the presentation and further defined the Council-directed goal to "commit to and plan for a Community Center," as follows: The City commit to a cooperative planning process with the Roseville and Mounds View School Districts that will: 1) Gauge the level of interest and support for a community center; 2) Upon confirmation of substantial interest and support in the community, retain an architectural firm to identify potential sites and prepare preliminary drawings; Goal 5: Commit to and Plan for a Community Center
