<br />City Council Study Session - 05/15/06 <br />Minutes - Page 13 <br /> <br />3) Schedule and conduct City Council, School Board, <br />and neighborhood meetings for the purposes of <br />presenting all applicable information related to the <br />potential construction of a community center; and <br />4) Execute the necessary legal proceedings to allow for <br />a city-wide referendum seeking approval to issue <br />general obligation bonds to finance the construction <br />of a community center. <br /> <br />Mr. Miller and staff proposed the following objectives or <br />action steps: <br />1) Establish a joint working group comprised of City <br />and School District officials for the purpose of <br />identifying tentative sties, community center needs, <br />and a general timeline; <br />2) Instruct the Roseville Community Visioning <br />steering committee to identify a subcommittee that <br />would be suitable for gauging public interest and <br />support for a community center; and <br />3) Request the steering committee and working group <br />to make a presentation before the City Council <br />regarding the level of support for a community <br />center. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust concurred with Action Step No.1, <br />but expressed concerns about the work group being <br />separated from the community visioning process and a <br />duplication of time and effort; opining that the <br />brainstorming sessions would be implemented soon, and a <br />subcommittee would be in process. <br /> <br />Mr. Miller noted that the proposed schedule was to <br />facilitate the School District schedule and their <br />momentum, related to a proposed levy referendum <br />planned by the School District for this fall's election <br />process; along with the fate of the Fairview Community <br />Center and pool. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust responded that the concerns of the <br />School District, while of interest and concern to the City, <br />was not interested in fast-tracking the discussion; and her <br />
