<br />City Council Study Session - 05/15/06 <br />Minutes - Page 14 <br /> <br />perception of School Board member interest in the <br />community visioning process was for them to actively <br />participate and take a leadership role in those discussions <br />as they progress. <br /> <br />City Manager Beets focused the discussion of a working <br />group as more of a technical group, working during the <br />community visioning process, and able to provide answers <br />for the visioning process discussion, due to their research <br />and prior work. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough spoke in support of preliminary <br />discussions for a community center and pool immediately. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan opined that the public support for a <br />community center was vital, not just of Roseville <br />residents, but from a broader user group or potential <br />groups, on a cooperative or regional basis. <br />Councilmember Ihlan cautioned thinking along the lines <br />that this would be only a City of Roseville project; and <br />that with the planning process identified upfront, the City <br />of Roseville may be able to help support the project <br />undertaken by some other user group or non-profit; and <br />that first funding alternatives and level of interest needed <br />to be determined. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing thanked Councilmembers and staff for <br />their discussion and points brought up for comment. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing opined that the community center subject <br />was broader than the City of Roseville, and ultimately the <br />City Council would need to respond to citizen-majority <br />preference; and spoke in support of a complimentary <br />process within the community visioning process, as well <br />as a technical working group providing additional and <br />more defined research, financial implications, and other <br />pertinent data. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust opined that during the community <br />VISIOnIng process discussion, community center <br />discussions would be evident, along with regional <br />
