<br />City Council Study Session - 05/15/06 <br />Minutes - Page 18 <br /> <br />3.h <br /> <br />installation of wi-fi in the City Hall complex and ongoing <br />testing. <br /> <br />City Attorney Squires was directed to research whether <br />reverse auction bidding was allowable under current state <br />statute, and report back to the City Council and staff at his <br />earliest convenience. <br /> <br />Goal 8: Partnerships with Surrounding Communities <br />Finance Director Chris Miller redefined the Council- <br />directed goal as follows: "The City will explore <br />partnerships with surrounding communities and other <br />governmental entities to achieve common goals and in an <br />effort to cost-share operations, facilities, and programs." <br /> <br />Mr. Miller provided staff-suggested objectives or action <br />steps: <br />1) Invite continued dialogue between elected officials <br />at all levels of govermnent; <br />2) Openly encourage the City's Management Team to <br />identify and explore partnership opportunities; and <br />3) Agree to provide up-front investment of vehicles, <br />equipment, technology, or staff for the purposes of <br />obtaining new cooperative agreements with the <br />understanding that the investment will be recouped <br />in the near future. <br /> <br />3.i <br /> <br />Goal 9: Preserve Parks and Open Space <br />Parks and Recreation Director Lonnie Brokke reviewed <br />possible approaches for achieving the Council-directed <br />goal to: "Preserve Parks and Open Space." <br />1) Refer to appropriate commission/commissions for <br />review, comment, hearings, etc. (i.e., Parks & <br />Recreation Commission [official tree board]; Public <br />Works, Environment and Transportation <br />Commission; and the Planning Commission). <br />2) Research other similar cities as to their preservation <br />of Park and Open Space policies, ordinances, etc. <br />3) Schedule and conduct public meetings for the <br />purposes of presenting all applicable information <br />and any potential new policies, requirements, <br /> <br />Goal 8: <br />Partnerships with <br />Surrounding <br />Communities <br /> <br />Goal 9: Preserve <br />Parks and Open <br />Space <br />
