<br />City Council Minutes 03/11/02 <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />areas. Lt. Mathwig talked about Patrol issues including <br />juvenile/adult, victim/witness, and staff/public separation <br />issues. Karen Ruby spoke about records storage needs <br />and the customer service desk. Heather Darby reported <br />on Roseville PD community service programs. <br />Kysylyczyn asked about training. Schroeder asked about <br />national standards for space per employee. Maschka <br />asked about multiple use of space. Klausing asked how <br />we determine our staffing needs and how we currently <br />address records storage issues. Kough asked about <br />partnering with the Ramsey County Sheriff. <br /> <br />2. Parks and Recreation Department <br /> <br />Bierscheid reviewed the community's space needs for: <br />meeting rooms, storage, programs, indoor and outdoor <br />aquatics, indoor playground area, teen area, cultural arts, <br />historical society, and fitness areas addressing the needs <br />of senior citizens as well as youth. He also provided an <br />update on the Roseville Area School District's <br />evaluation of their facility needs. The School District's <br />three citizen committees should present their reports to <br />the School Board and School Superintendent in May. <br />The Board and Superintendent will review those reports <br />in June. <br /> <br />3. Public Works <br /> <br />Schwartz reviewed the deficiencies with their current <br />space: salt storage is non-compliant; vehicle <br />maintenance bays are too short; welding area is not <br />adequately ventilated; the yard is too constricted for <br />maneuvering the many large vehicles we use for plowing <br />and mowing throughout the city; the public entry and <br />office area is hard to find and not customer friendly; and <br />the locker rooms, lavatories, and training/lunch room are <br />wholly inadequate for current staff. <br /> <br />4.Future of Fire Service, Fire Station Location <br />Study <br /> <br />Gasaway reviewed the Fire Location Study.
