<br />City Council Minutes - OS/20/02 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Kysy1yczyn awarded certificates of recognition to the <br />Ethic's Task Force Members. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Information about the Association of Metropolitan <br />Municipalities (AMM) <br />Craig Waldron, incoming President of AMM, and Gene <br />Ranieri, Executive Director, summarized information <br />about the mission, purpose and history of AMM. <br />Klausing asked how AMM's services are different from <br />the Minnesota League of Cities. <br />Maschka asked about AMM's role in legislative <br />redistricting. <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />Report from Citizens' Recycling Committee to City <br />Council <br />Pratt introduced all Committee members and praised <br />their dedication and thoroughness. Jeff Travis <br />overviewed the many issues the Committee confronted. <br />He noted the extensive public input sought and received <br />by the Committee, including professional surveying <br />work by the University of Minnesota. He discussed <br />Roseville's environmental goals and the Minnesota <br />Waste Management hierarchy. <br />Todd Anderson touched on the Committee's <br />recommendations relating to an annual Clean-Up Day. <br />Kough asked Mr. Anderson how he arrived at the <br />estimated cost of $11 ,000 for the proposed annual <br />"Clean-Up Day." Schroeder asked about curbside pick- <br />up on "Clean-Up Day." <br />Judy Wood described the history of Roseville' s recycling <br />effort. She also discussed several options: the current <br />double-sort system, "single stream" recycling, and <br />weekly collection under the current double-sort system. <br />She indicated the Committee leaned toward options 2 or <br />3 in the recycling portion of their report. <br />Kough asked about customer complaints and who they <br />were directed to. Klausing commented on the <br />inadequate size of the recycling bins. Klausing asked <br />about the "single stream" recycling process. Kysy1yczyn <br />spoke in favor of a "single stream" recycling process, <br />suggesting a year-long trial.
