City Council Minutes - 06/03/02
Page 4

Klausing: why can't council decide that it would be
more appropriate in an industrial zone?
As time goes on things change--risks are discovered etc.
could we rezone?
Kysylyczyn: afraid of another Cub Foods dilemma
Beets: should we hire a firm to do a study?
Kysylyczyn: council may not have an interest in reading
the report--not worth it if council is not willing to read it.
Will it have an effect on the vote?
Schroeder: report may say it is fine, but the
neighborhood may not back it, then you are right back to
the beginning.
Klausing: we need to examine whether it makes more
sense to put it in a different area--is there any sentiment
from the council to do this?
J ammnick: pick one of the four options that staff has
provided.
Maschka: Option 3 is his choice. Many times we have
found out that science was wrong. Would side of the
neighborhood. Make a stand our role is to defend the
neighborhood.
Kysylyczyn: Don't allow in residential, but allow in
industrial does not make sense.
Schroeder: same problems with industrial as
residential--Iook at scientific numbers-- less
concentration in residential area. Do not see allowing it
in an industrial area.
Klausing: more than just a science. It is subjective.
Beets: staff could come back with code options?
Complete ban?
Partial ban?
Schroeder: could we ban it?
Jammnick: no known existing case.
Klausing: would like to see other options.
Beets: Option 2 and 4 are out, and Option 1 and 3 are
possibilities
More work needs to be done.

C.
