<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 07/24/06 <br />Minutes - Page 3 <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Maschka; Pust; Ihlan and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />l.c <br /> <br />Accept a Grant from the Minnesota Department of <br />Public Safety 2007 Safe & Sober Program <br />Police Captain Rick Mathwig presented the application and <br />award of $90,000 total from the Minnesota Office of <br />Traffic Safety for a joint application of the Cities of New <br />Brighton, Moundsview, St. Anthony, White Bear Lake, <br />Maplewood and Roseville Police Departments, along with <br />Ramsey County Sheriffs Office, for funding to coordinate <br />activities for officer overtime and squad mileage <br />reimbursement for the 2007 Safe & Sober Campaign. <br />Captain Mathwig noted that the City of Roseville Police <br />Department's share of the grand funds would be $16,000; <br />and that no in-kind funds from the City would be required. <br /> <br />Ihlan moved, Pust seconded, acceptance by the City's <br />Police Department of $16,000.00 in grant funds to <br />effectively participate in the 2007 Safe & Sober Campaign. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Maschka; Pust; Ihlan and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Special Joint Meeting with the Police Civil Service <br />Commission <br />Members of the Police Civil Service Commission include three <br />members: Chair Richard Houck, Linda Lange, and Mary Jean <br />Turinia Anderson. Chair Houck noted that Ms. Lange was <br />unavailable to attend due to a prior engagement tonight. <br /> <br />The uniqueness of the Police Commission in city <br />volunteer organizations. <br />Chair Houck reviewed the uniqueness of this Commission <br />compared to other community citizen commissions; with <br />three volunteers serving on the commission; no set agenda, <br />no budget, or meeting dates; and their meeting at the <br />request of the Police Department for the purpose of <br />monitoring the consistency of hiring practices, training, <br /> <br />Grant <br />MN Department of <br />Public Safety 2007 <br />Safe & Sober <br />Program <br /> <br />Special Joint <br />Meeting with the <br />Police Civil Service <br />Commission <br />
