<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 07/24/06 <br />Minutes - Page 5 <br /> <br />Ms. Turinia Anderson addressed the focus of the <br />commission and the lack of community education and/or <br />outreach. Ms. Turinia Anderson, from her perspective as a <br />commissioner for less than one year, opined her favorable <br />impressions, and preparation for hiring and employment <br />practices of the City and the Department. <br /> <br />Chair Houck concluded his discussion by reiterating his <br />personal request that the City Council keep funding <br />sufficient for essential services in the community; and <br />thanked Police Chief Carol SIemer and Police Captain Rick <br />Mathwig for their professionalism in administering the <br />department. <br /> <br />Councilmembers, as a whole and individually, thanked the <br />Commission for their continued service to the community. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing recognized the overlapping of <br />departments, their needs and resources, in the overall <br />operation of the community. <br /> <br />Recess Recess <br />Mayor Klausing recessed the meeting at approximately 6:25 p.m. <br />and reconvened at 6:34 p.m. <br /> <br />Approve Agenda Approve Agenda <br />Mayor Klausing called for any comments or discussion on <br />tonight's Agenda. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan requested removal from the Consent <br />Agenda of items 5.j and 5.k, respectively entitled, "Approve the <br />Request of Brad Peterson for a Recombination Minor <br />Subdivision between two adjacent properties at 1907 Gluek Lane <br />(PF 3774);" and "Approve the Request ofMSP Commercial for a <br />Preliminary Plat at 2700 Snelling Avenue (PF 3776)." <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan also requested the addition of Item 15.a, <br />entitled, "Request of Councilmember Ihlan to Consider City <br />Council Candidate Orientation Session," scheduled for the <br />August 14, 2006 meeting be rescheduled for discussion at <br />tonight's meeting. <br />
