Who investigates allegations nf maltreat►nent? <br />Maltreatrnent allegations which involve a service or facility iicensed by the State are investigated by <br />the licensing agency [i.e. MN Department of HeaIth (Offtce of Health Facility Connplaints} or the MN <br />Department of Human Services (Licensing Division)]. "Community" complaints (or everything not <br />in�vestigated by tl�e State) are investigated by the county as the Lead Agency. <br />S. What about emergency health and safety situations? <br />The first response to any emergency is to ca11911. <br />6. If I call Ramsey County how long will it take? <br />The initial disposition (i.e_ whether the case is accepted for investigation} decision for alleged VA <br />maltreatment complaints where Ramsey County is the Lead Agency can take up to seven days. Tf <br />requested, this decision can be provided to you by mail. In most case, this notification is the only <br />information we are allowed to release to the reporter. <br />7. Whai happens after the report7 <br />A Social Worker will review the report to determine if an investigation needs to take place. In order to <br />make this deternaination the Social Worker may review records and could ►nake follow up calls. The <br />determination could be to begin a farmal investigation, offer voluntary services or take no further action <br />at that time. Adult Protec#ion will help people to receive voluntary services whenever possible. Any <br />report that involves an aIlegation of criminal activity will be forwarded to law enforcement. <br />
