<br />City Council Minutes - 07/15/02 <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />E. Kysylyczyn moved, no second, for the City to provide <br />Legal Representation and Indemnification to Elected <br />Officials under specified circumstances, as follows: <br /> <br />"I move that effective immediately, elected officials who <br />choose to seek private outside legal council to represent <br />themselves on city related matters shall be fully and <br />immediately reimbursed. <br />In addition, the City Attorney shall draft an <br />ordinance which will guarantee the reimbursement of <br />legal fees to elected officials who choose to seek private <br />legal council in situations which may be related to their <br />service as elected officials. The draft ordinance will <br />specify that the maximum criminal penalties shall be <br />applied to any employee or elected official who <br />interferes with the reimbursement process. The <br />ordinance shall also specify that the elected official <br />seeking reimbursement shall have standing, and be fully <br />reimbursed for any legal action they may need to take <br />against any employee or elected official in the <br />enforcement this ordinance. <br />In addition, the draft ordinance shall direct that <br />legal fees be fully reimbursed for any elected official <br />who takes legal action against the city Public <br />Information Officer for failure to provide public <br />information to an elected official, or where the public <br />information is provided in a discriminatory manner. <br />First reading will be held on July 22, and final <br />reading on July 29." <br /> <br />Kough moved to table consideration of Legal <br />Representation for Elected Officials until July 22, 2002. <br /> <br />Roll Call, Ayes: Schroeder, Kough and Kysylyczyn. <br />Nays: Maschka and Klausing. <br /> <br />F. Schroeder moved, Kysylyczyn seconded, effective <br />immediately, to abolish the Roseville Ethics <br />Commission. <br /> <br />Maschka, Klausing, Schroeder and Kysylyczyn <br />discussed the value of the Ethics Resolution and Ethics <br /> <br />Legal <br />Representation for <br />Elected Officials <br /> <br />Abolish Ethics <br />Commission <br />
