<br />City Council Minutes - 08/05/02 <br />Page 7 <br /> <br />accomplished by density; and was skeptical regarding <br />United's cooperative housing concept. <br /> <br />#3 - Timbercraft (Arona Village) <br />Councilmember Klausing stated that he liked their <br />building design, but expressed concerns regarding <br />affordabili ty. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka addressed his concerns <br />regarding whether the economics of the proposal were <br />realistic given the proposed external materials suggested. <br /> <br />#4 MetroPlains (PrimRose) <br />Councilmember Klausing stated that he didn't have a <br />good idea of where they were going with the <br />development and was concerned about the housing <br />affordability of that proposal. <br /> <br />Councilmember Klausing was concerned that the <br />PrimRose plan lacked Open Space. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka stated that the original <br />MetroPlains proposal had lacked Open Space; however, <br />after reviewing it with staff, they had revised the plan, a <br />copy of which was not available as a handout, had <br />included a redesign and addition of a pond. <br /> <br />Discussion took place regarding the unique financing <br />amenities of the United proposal's cooperative housing <br />aspect. Councilmember Maschka provided a summary <br />of this type of housing and financing options available to <br />seniors making the change from single-family home <br />ownership. <br /> <br />Further discussion ensued regarding which proposals <br />dedicated park development and maintenance to the City, <br />and which would remain private to the association. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Welsch responded <br />that the proposals of Timbercraft and Town & <br />Country/Common Bond did not include park dedication. <br />
