<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />35,000 <br />45,000 <br />77,000 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Kysylyczyn moved and <br />that staff discontinue pursuit of <br />Larpenteur Avenue Pathway. <br /> <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn responded to Councilmember <br />Kough's inquiry regarding his rationale for denial, <br />explaining that the federal funding, and expenditures <br />would be taxpayer monies, not "free" monies; and that <br />the city needed to concentrate on its priorities (i.e., <br />County Road C Streetscape). <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding the current levy for pathway <br />construction and that in the proposed 2003 budget; public <br />support for the proj ect; estimated annual maintenance of <br />this portion of trail estimated by staff at approximately 10 <br />20 hours per year; and required width of trail to meet <br />federal construction guidelines. <br /> <br />Mr. Schwartz stated that use of existing equipment was <br />problematic on a five foot (5') trail; but costs could be <br />estimated to see what savings there would be with a <br />bituminous rather than concrete surface. <br /> <br />Discussion continued regarding the potential loss of the <br />$300,000 federal enhancement grant funds, and the use of <br />city funds for this project and the need to construct this <br />portion of trail at this time. <br /> <br />Mr. Schwartz offered for staff to return at next <br />meeting, if the City Council so desired, with cost <br />estimates for a bituminous surface.
