City Council Minutes - 08/19/02
Page 22

Kough moved adoption of Resolution entitled,
"Resolution Calling for an Election on $9,000,000
General Obligation Bonds for Public Safety and Public
Works Facilities."

The motion died for lack of a second.

Councilmember Maschka stated that, since the proj ected
cost of the project was estimated at $10,400,000, and
there were no additional City funds available for the
project, calling a special election with a limited bond
issue of $9,000,000 was not appropriate.

Councilmember Klausing concurred with
Councilmember Maschka, and stated that a pending
Community Center, as he had previously stated during
the entire process, was also a COnCelTI.

Acting Mayor Kough expressed his disappointment that,
with considerable funds spent on this project to-date, it
was apparently not moving forward, stating a Special
Council meeting may be in order to further discuss and
consider this issue prior to the deadline for calling a
special election.

Dick Lambert, an audience member, asked if
Councilmembers Maschka and Klausing would support a
bond issue for the entire cost of the project, at
$10,400,000. Councilmember Maschka responded in the
affirmative. Councilmember Klausing responded in the
negative, stating that he had other concerns.

B.

City of Roseville Request to Consider Amended
Language Pertaining to Fence Type and Location for
Inclusion in the Second Reading of the Shoreland
Fence Ordinance
Councilmember Klausing requested a legal opinion of
City Attorney J amnik regarding the need to seek public
comment before this Council action.

Second Reading
and Request for
Amended
Language
Shoreland
Fence Ordinance
