<br />Regular City Council Minutes - 09/30/02 <br />Page 16 <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn suggested an1ending the n1otion to <br />include directing staff to remove the monuments in the <br />lnost cost-effective n1anner. <br /> <br />Counciln1ember Maschka attempted con1ment, without <br />recognition by Mayor Kysylyczyn. <br /> <br />Counciln1en1ber Klausing called for a point of <br />information, seeking the original cost for installation, <br />which was confirmed by staff at $22,000 each. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn reiterated the need to look at the <br />greater scope of the issue; how did they get installed in <br />violation of city ordinance? <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough reiterated his desire to delay the <br />vote until additional removal costs were provided by staff. <br /> <br />Community Developn1ent Director Welsch relninded <br />Councilmen1bers that if the cost was over $5,000, it would <br />auton1atically con1e back to the City Council for their <br />approval; stating that staff would consider salvage quotes <br />along with all other options. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn stated that, with the addition of the <br />Public Works and Transportation Con1mission, the City <br />should be able to avoid future problems like this. <br /> <br />Klausing moved, Maschka seconded, tabling the iteln for <br />further cost estin1ates. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn ruled Councilmember Klausing's <br />motion out of order. <br /> <br />Counciln1ember Maschka called for a point of order, <br />appealing Mayor Kysylyczyn's ruling, stating his belief <br />that the n1otion was in order, and requesting the Mayor to <br />call for a vote. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn again ruled Councihnen1ber <br />Klausing's n1otion out of order; with Councilmember <br />Maschka again requesting the mayor to call the question. <br />
