Organizational Business <br /> <br />A. Council Confirmation of City Manager's <br />Appointments of the City Attorney and City <br />Prosecutor <br />Maschka moved, Klausing seconded, concurrence with the <br />City Manager's appointment of Campbell Knutson as City <br />Attorney, subject to negotiation of a final legal services <br />agreement. <br /> <br />City 1\1anager Beets reviewed the process of the interview <br />panel recommending appointment of the firm, following <br />distribution of Request for Proposals (RFP's) to sixty-four <br />(64) law firms in the metropolitan area, followed by <br />receipt of seventeen (17) proposals submitted for City <br />Attorney, City Prosecutor and Development Attorney. <br /> <br />City Manager Beets reviewed the criteria used for <br />evaluation and the rationale provided by the interview <br />panel consisting of the City Manager, Parks & Recreation <br />Director Brokke, Human Resources Manager Bacon, <br />Communications Specialist Curti, and City Planner <br />Paschke. <br /> <br />Ci ty Manager Beets recommend that the proposed motion <br />include wording making appointment subject to <br />negotiation of a final legal services agreement, rather than <br />the suggested flat fee of $8,500 per month, allowing room <br />for negotiation depending on the services provided in the <br />retainer and flat fee bases. <br /> <br />City Manager Beets noted the favorable staff comments <br />about Mr. Jamnik and the firm's accessibility; knowledge; <br />technological capabilities, competency; and the <br />advantages of Mr. Jamnik's expertise and former <br /> <br />City Attorney <br />and City <br />Prosecutor <br />Confirmation <br />of Appointments <br />
