Hearings Hearings <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn announced the Public Hearing schedule for <br />the evening and reviewed the process for each. <br /> <br />A. Truth in Taxation Hearing - Budget and Tax Levy <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn opened the Truth in Taxation Public <br />Hearing at 7:27 p.m. <br /> <br />Finance Director Chris Miller provided a brief <br />presentation with a summary as required by state law. <br /> <br />Under the preliminary budget recommended by staff and <br />approved by the City Council there would a 10% decrease <br />in city taxes actually paid; with an increase in 10% value <br />of property by the County Assessor, taxes on an $1 75,000 <br />median value home would still decrease 1.6%, ignoring <br />the homestead credit <br /> <br />Mr. Miller presented comparisons over the last five years <br />between the City's tax levy and state inflation index. <br /> <br />Jim Erickson, 446 South Hill Drive <br />Mr. Erickson spoke about taxation in general, and <br />compared increases in Social Security in relation to overall <br />tax increases for 2003, inflation, and thanked the City of <br />Roseville for only a 2% increase for 2003. Mr. Erickson <br />reviewed increases by other entities: Ramsey County, <br />School Districts and others. <br /> <br />Mr. Erickson expressed his appreciation of the City of <br />Roseville. <br /> <br />No one else appeared for or against <br /> <br />At 7:47p.m., Mayor Kysylyczyn continued the Truth in <br />Taxation Public Hearing to December 9,2002 at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Truth in <br />Taxation <br />Hearing <br />
