1998 City of�Roseville Residenticrl Sti�c�i• <br />Decision Resource.c, Ltd. <br />July, 1998 <br />When asked to identify "higher quality'� communities in tlle Metropolitan Area, forty-four <br />percent felt there were "none." <br />• Sevcn percent each pointed to "Shoreview," '`Edina," and "Mahtomedi." <br />• Five percent listed "North Oaks," whiie four percent pointed to "Minnetonka_" <br />• These communities were selected primarily because of "rural character," mentioncd by <br />tweIve perecnt, "better homes and lots," key to ten percent, and "more extensive city <br />service," stated by seven percent_ <br />Forty-five percent reported they continued to live in Roseville i�ecause of its "location." <br />• Fourteen percent stated "family was here." <br />• Twelve percent considered Roseville to be''their home." <br />o Eleven percent said it was a"nice city." <br />• Eight percent "liked their neighborhood."' <br />"Growth," at twenty-five percent, was regarded as the most serious issue facing the community <br />today. <br />e "Critne" and "taxes" were each mentioncd by fifteen perccnt. <br />• "Run-down areas" was key for ten percent. <br />A high eighty-seven percent fclt #he City of Roseville was headed in the "right direction." <br />• Only six percent saw it as "off or� the wrong track." <br />• Unhappiness was based on "too much growth," at three percent. <br />A very solid ninety-fve percent would recommend living in Kosevitle to others. <br />• Only six percent disagreed. <br />Neighborhood Perspectives: <br />Ninety-four percent were "satis�ed" with their ncighborhood as a place to leve. <br />• Seventy-two percent were "very satisfied." <br />• Only five percent re�orted "dissatisfaction." <br />Forty-four percent defined the quality of their neigiiborhood in terms of "the quality of things <br />such as schools, churches, parks, and other services." <br />�• 1'wenty-two percent saw it as "the friendships I have with the people who live there." <br />• Twenty-eight percent defined it as "the feeling that I'm living among people like myself <br />whether I know them ar not." <br />Page 3 <br />
