. Develop and publicize standards on changes and design <br />operations. <br />ID�AS FROM THE COMMITTEE: <br />. Have uniform guideiines for traffic consultants hired by <br />cit�es/contractors -- use "average daily�" traffic <br />volume. <br />. Road test every 5 years for drivers license renewal. <br />. Be known as the safest place to drive in Minnesota. <br />. Teach defensive drivinq and have proximity warning <br />devices built into cars. <br />Tom Alleva gave s brief review of Civil Defense highlights: <br />The City has an emergency plan and �s tested at least twice a year. <br />The plan is designed to respond to �rarious emergencies from tornado <br />to Hazmat spills to plan crashes. There is a yeariy full scale <br />exercise involving other county cities. <br />Civil Defense takes coo dination of many agencies to respond to <br />large scale emergencies, often involving Red Cross, National Guard, <br />other cities and private organizations. <br />The city plan cavers response to variaus hazmat facilities on the <br />west side of Roseville including possible evacuations. <br />THE FUTURE: <br />- Continue work on mitigation and preparation. <br />- Establish some method for giving warning notification to <br />every household and business. The current siren system <br />is designed for outdoor _warninci�. <br />The next meeting is Tuesday, November 24, 1992 at 6:30 p.m. in the <br />Police Training Room. <br />GEN <br />l. Discuss information reviewed for the last 5 weeks and deve3op <br />recoinmendations - not too much depth or too sweeping. <br />2. Review each Public Safety section and brainstorm looking for <br />issuss, long term recommendations, strategies �and immediate <br />steps. <br />3. Chair Essex wiii organize some of the highlights from the last <br />meetings so the Tuesday meeting oan start right off looking at <br />the topics. <br />TJA/b <br />
